Elisa Metz – Glass Wands
In December 2022 her album Glass Wands has been released on all plattforms (bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) via Berlin-based label *akʷā.
For the album, fragile glass sounds were processed by analogue synthesizers and combined with bass, accordion, timpani and vocals, resulting in delicate drone layers. The tracks are named after each wands’ colour, while their individual pitch forms the starting point for catchy pop melodies.
For the tracks ‘Red’, ‘Green’ and ‘Blue’ on the record’s B-side, the glass sounds were sculptured by organismic synthesizer SOMA Lyra-8. For the A-Side, Elisa Metz discovered further possibilities of playing the glass instrument together with Cologne-based producer Julian Stetter, letting the glass sounds run through a modular synthesizer.
